 This is an invitation to take some sacred time in these next days to rest into your experience of the past few years. If you feel the last three years have strained your ability to cope and live with the unknown you are not alone. I would offer that it was a strenuous opportunity, a healing and practice period if you will, for the promise of the times coming now. The coming now is a Threshold. Threshold defined as; “the magnitude or intensity that must be exceeded for a certain reaction, phenomena, result, or condition to occur or be manifested.“ March 7th a cycle is ending as Saturn moves into the sign of Pisces after an arduous journey through Aquarius after a historic conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn. The opportunity to go deep in reflection and Inclusion is crucial to get our bearings before moving forward. Like most astrologers I had a keen eye on the Saturn /Pluto conjunction for many years before. Throughout history it has revealed itself to be an intense restrictive and explosive collective transformational event. In 2019 when I accepted an invitation to speak at a national conference planned for the fall of 2020 I shared with the coordinators my strong feeling that it would NOT happen. As I felt ahead into the year 2020 I was aware of an undeniable factor of an unknown event of great magnitude. Curiously it did not feel like a World War that many were concerned about. Why would astrologers expect an event such as World War? Because meetings of Saturn and Pluto throughout history have involved times of intensity, fear and large-scale wars such as WW1 which started with such a transit. We could not have foreseen a global event such as the COVID 19 virus elicited. For the first time in history, humanity moved through its own unique and extreme varied responses and reactions to a global disaster together. Fear brought us together and fear pulled us apart. It was a World War of new kind. An inner and outer experience like no other. Individually, if we were lucky, it brought us to our knees with our own mortality, issues of survival, life and death. And hopefully deep reflection about what we accept as normal and the quality of modern life. I say if we were lucky because my belief is, that was its purpose. To stop us a moment to breathe. Everything became about the breathing, and tragically, not breathing. It was a global reset. An extraordinary opportunity to keep hearts open and sit with no escaping the experience of the world we have created. Once again everyone had/has their own unique response. What unites us to this day is the potency of the event. With Saturn in Aquarius an understanding of these past years is supported by an understanding trauma, and our place in the world within many systems of belonging. I find that many people have no idea how depleted or disoriented they are. In taking the time to look back we honor our journey and recovery. Hence the value of deep Inclusion work before moving forward. When Saturn left the earth sign of Capricorn and moved into Aquarius the end of 2020 our trauma response and reactions really came to light. One moment we were "All In This Together" the next we where fragmented and polarized. Aquarius rules the nervous system and trauma. This is why we do the completion work before its movement into Pisces. Pluto in Capricorn since 2008 has been doing the momentous work of excavating our embodied personal, familial, ancestral, historical, and deep time wounds and trauma. Yes Capricorn rules all structures, institutions and resources, that lead to the great recession in 2008. The part than many overlook is its opposition to Cancer which rules everything that supports us emotionally; our family, ancestors, our roots, DNA and our earth. I understand most of us have been doing our best to navigate these challenging times. Now we find ourselves experiencing a rare, bold and unnerving triple conjunction of Uranus, Mars and the North Node in Taurus. So no, it is not over, but the the beginning is near. This powerful trio perfects at the end of July, and beginning August with the synastry of these archetypal energies bringing the promise of change, radical and liberating. Things can happen very fast now and seem to come out of nowhere. When the electrifying planet Uranus, the great awakener, joins with the North Node the significator of evolutionary future we can expect the unexpected. Mars joins these two giants to ignite and shake loose anything and anyone that does not align with our highest evolutionary good. The combination of these powerful energies is a major astrological event known to mark profound turning points in human history. Everyone will be feeling this one in their own way. The change that has been unrelating in 2022 continues but this connection with the nodal axis holds a hidden flavor of something new to come. A preview of coming attractions that we may not yet be aware. Whatever the trajectory of humanity it is apparent we are nearing a turning point. The last Uranus Node conjunction in 1938 -1939 saw the discovery of nuclear fission. Uranus Nodal transits are present in space travel and exploration. Just as we moved into the orb of influence of this transit mid July we saw the success of the James Webb deep space telescope. Seeing father out and back into time, something no human had seen before. Taurus rules our resources and values. In 1938-139 showed as the end of the Great Depression in the US, and the beginning of WWII. Pivotal moments in history. Look for ground breaking insights to resources, economy, our bodies, and our values.. We are talking about a lot of energy with this, possibly to much. It may be easy to be pulled into the chaos or manic state. Many of us are already flooded in the area of the our hearts, minds and nervous system. A commitment to the care and feeding of the our physical and emotional being is of the highest importance at this time. Burn out and breakdown is also a hidden dynamic that can show itself with this level of intensity. Mars rules the adrenals. Uranus is electrical, ruling the rhythms of the body, the brain and nervous system. It also rules our etheric body and our electro magnetic field. Grounding, earthing and, breathing practices are a must as we move deeper into the Air Age to come. This transit will give us a warning of where we need to get real about our bodies limitations and develop much needed embodiment practices. All of this is happening at 18 degrees Taurus. The Saturn/ Jupiter conjunction of December 21st, 2020 started this with their ingress into Aquarius, ushering humanity's movement into the Air Age. January’s transits set the stage for the rest of the year and make it clear that we cannot leave the past behind. Pluto is still making its way through the last six degrees of Capricorn until 2025 churning up, and through the underbelly of the structures and conditions of the shadowed past…AND taking the United States through its first Pluto Return. If you have personal planets from 24 to 30 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Libra, or Aries, Pluto’s initiation cycle is still making its way to you. Saturn and Jupiter are moving together through the early degrees of Aquarius lighting up any planets you have at 0-9 degrees of Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, or Taurus. The Saturn/ Jupiter conjunction introduces the Expansion and Contraction cycle of the labor pains of our rebirthing that become intense as we move into the three Saturn Uranus squares of 2021. More on this in my next post. But Mars is the star, and the main player kicking off the astrology of year, inciting, and igniting what has been lingering, waiting to shatter and explode. Personally, politically, and collectively. In this way 2021 continues to move us through primal, ancestral, and collective traumas brought to the surface for transformation and evolution. The events of January 6 & 7 with Mercury conjunct Pluto, as Mars moving into the 29th degree, or anaretic degree, of Aries, and moving into Taurus as this came to a head on the 7th are a preview of January’s eventful unfolding. These dates are followed by the New Moon conjunct Pluto in Capricorn on Jan 13th setting an intense and sobering mood for the upcoming lunar cycle. Moving to the 15th as Uranus stations direct and Jupiter activates more Aquarian energy as it squares Uranus through the 19th. Uranus is disruptive and deeply creative, offering freedom from the known. When these two giants come together it is a lot of energy to contain. Air is the sign that cannot be contained, therefore we sometimes fracture with too much input. Stay grounded and take comfort knowing you are not alone in feelings of anxiousness, overwhelm, and just keeping it together. Stay open to entertaining grounded innovative ideas. With that in mind lets us look at the the big story of the month, Inauguration Day January 20th. The astrology of the day striking in its energy and possibilities, is dauntingly precarious as Mars, the archetype of all things volatile and activating, conjuncts Uranus and its need for freedom and revolution as the void of course moon moves that 29th degree of Aries which was activated with the events of January 6th. You cannot make this stuff up. If an astrologer were speaking of the energies for a shocking rebellious uprising this would be at the top of the list. Whatever your perspective there will be something that reflects these attributes. Lest we forget the incoming administration is seen this way to half the country. It is important to remember that more than one attribute or perspective is always true, especially when we are speaking of transformation. With the Sun at 0 degrees Aquarius (the great Awakener) and Pluto in Capricorn the (transforming entrenched patterns and structures) on the midheaven, this is also the chart of groundbreaking, liberating ideas and ideals faced with the arduous tasks of working through the realities to make it so. The Inauguration chart is a chart encoded for radical change and liberation and the struggle for that, harkening back to the founding of this country. This is the chart for the moment and will resonate through the next four years as we in the US move through our first Pluto return. Whatever is launched, unveiled, installed, and established will be continually challenged to reflect the innovative paradigm-shifting potentialities that these collective influences evoke. This is where WE come in. I say we because that is the direction, the coming Air age takes us. The movement from ME to WE is the paradigm shift. It is the practice of staying awake and moving THROUGH to include everything present. If the stance of humanity’s frame of reference remains in the old paradigm of us versus them, there is no movement. Spiritual bypassing and denial insure continued pain. It has been our work and remains our work. In this way, the astrology of 2021 continues to reflect the history of our time as custodians to ourselves, each other, our country, and our one precious earth. Every 26,000 years humanity moves through a heightened phase of growth energy. We have been in that for the past 500 years leading up to the year 2012 and from that point speeding up to this year 2020. Astrology reflects all the tragic and triumphant events that show as turning points in human history as far back as we have been tracking how, when, and where cosmos meets psyche. I share this because to speak of this moment wisely we must have an understanding of where we are in the continuum of life on Earth. It is of little use to share current astrological transits without understanding the magnitude of what connects it, that misstep often leads to the question, when will it be over. Rarely is that a useful question. It’s not about when will it be over, rather how do we move forward? Especially Now. Why now? There are many factors in the understanding of this moment. One of the factors paradoxically includes large doses of cozying up with the unknown. When we sit with the unknown we are in the right place for the new to emerge. "To stop before the mystery I believe is a most important source of strength." Bert Hellinger I understand being with the unknown can be excruciating. Recently, a friend shared she couldn’t bear to see our country falling apart. I wholeheartedly agree it is heart-wrenching. Astrologically we see from February 2019 to January 2025 the United States is experiencing its first Pluto return, that moment when Pluto returns to the place in the heavens it occupied when the United States was birthed. All of the history and potentials of the birth chart reanimate coming to life in the now for the purpose of transfiguration. At this same time the Saturn Pluto conjunction in Capricorn has been working us personally and collectively all year. We see Pluto revealing the dank shadowed underbelly of antiquated Saturnine structures and authority systems worldwide . We understand the country as we know it is crumbling from the weight of its shaky and dark foundation built on the backs of the oppressed. We remember Pluto’s purpose is complete and utter transformation. As an ideal, it may sound amazing, but for anyone with a relationship to Pluto we know the realities and the otherworldly nature of the death and rebirth Plutonian experience. In that experience, it may feel that the ground falls away beneath our feet and take us to our knees, humbled, relieved to relinquish struggle, and control. When on our knees, the gift is to stay there. Stay there, be in no rush, until there is a rising within us. In this dark night, we may become aware of a heartbeat and our breathe. We welcome our time in the dark, we breathe in with the great pause, our exhale becomes an offering to the great mystery. As we courageously face our shadows, allowing our hearts to crack open to bear witness and include everything present in a new way. As time collapses we ever so slowly move into the birth canal. I connect with the natural world and flow of life to be seen and included. It creates its own Sabian Symbol, and archetypal medicine for the day. As I opened my curtains this morning I was surprised to see this sight in my little neighborhood. A Large Coyote at the Top of the Road Walking South, Stopping to Look Back Over its Shoulder to the North. Coyote the great Trickster, whatever medicine it is, good or bad it is sure to make one laugh either through joy or pain. Coyote is sacred. Contained within the trickster medicine is the humor of the ages the cosmic joke is not just on us but on everyone else. When Coyote shows, snooze time is over. Better to wake up and pay attention. As an astrologer I am always working with my North and South Node internally, tracking my experience and readjusting my course if need be. It is a powerful indicator of keeping on souls path. I take heed that even though it is walking South he is looking back to the north. Wiley as it is, he is free to quickly turn once again to the North and align with Souls mission. This may be the biggest message of these times. Collectively we seem to be hanging out, stuck in the South Node repeating painful patterns of the past. Themes and events of the past literally replaying before our eyes. With the North Node in Cancer and South Node joining Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn (the axis of mother /father, inner /outer, past and future) our forward movement demands once and for all we face the past to heal, and truly transform what has been to create the new future.  If you are not feeling the usual July 4th celebratory mood, join the club. You are the part of the many that are in deep enquiry into understanding the meaning of this time. In the years to come Americans will experience a Pluto Return collectively, in 2022 to be exact, when this planet of death and REBIRTH reaches the degree of Capricorn that it occupied on July 4th, 1776. Humans don’t live long enough (250 years) to experience a Pluto return but we are deep in the labor/contraction phase now, and have been for years. If you have any experience with a Pluto transit you know it transcends the boundaries of normal, reveals the realities of our shadow, and ultimately transforms at every level. The process is not a walk in the park. It is the real deal and we are all here to be awake, aware and fully participate in the birth. For those wishing something new you will be relieved to know it is coming, BUT it is up to each of us to create it. A Pluto Return is NOT a sit back and trance out experience, any more than giving birth is. Women understand this process naturally, how they respond to it has much to do with the ability to be present with all that is. This summer will find us in heavy labor pains with 6 planets retrograde (retracing the past) including Mars retrograde on the South Node (the past). That means EVERYTHING is about the PAST and healing our shadowed history. These opportunities are given us a gift to finally transform patterns and inner conflict. To be fully alive. When we work with these energies with a focused intention to transform our inherited legacy we are aligning with the grand purpose of this extraordinary time. Life gets easier for us personally so we may make our contribution collectively to this critical juncture in human history. How much pain will one endure before waking up and taking personal responsibility is up to each individual. For those that would seek the easy way out I am sorry, but there is no C section (spiritual bypass) option available on this one. A woman can only medicate birth pains away so much before it endangers the life of the new being coming into the world. Pluto’s gift ensures the only way out is through. But wait a moment, starting off the first day of the New Year with a Super Full Moon means we are not done with the year past. We are still full of the old, and this is a super full moon, how appropriate considering 2017 was overwhelming and over shadowed our desires in so many ways. Good news, there will be second full moon on January 31 that will belong completely to 2018! Full Moons call for completion and closure. We work with that before we move into a space to begin considering setting intentions and taking things to a new level. The 2018 New Year Super Full Moon is in its house of Cancer. We will feel deeply with emotions of comfort, compassion and home shining brightly. These feelings of abundance and hopefulness are supported by the full moon forming an auspicious combination, with Jupiter, Mars and Neptune. Even with all we have been through in 2017, this year just feels different. Try this little exercise say 2017 aloud and 2018 aloud. Does your body feel different? It WILL be different but that doesn’t mean it will be easy. Action is required between now and June. Things will continue to move at a dizzying speed until mid-year when Uranus goes into Taurus. (There is much more to come on that topic, stayed tuned.) You will want to address anything that remained stagnant in the past year. Take action on any issues of clinging to a comfort zone or sticking your head in the sand. Transform embodied patterns that limit. If you take responsibility and work with these universal energies for change and transformation you will find a new kind of energy will be moving you forward. First order of business is completion. Moving into 2018 sound's great, but experience has shown that nothing new is available if we just move on without looking back- without including the past. As we evolve we come to an understanding that running and not looking back, is a form of exclusion and does not change any issue or situation. The popular practice of RELEASING IT does not do much in that regard either. When you release "it" where does it go? The "it" is usually our energetic reaction or response to an issue or event, and my friends, energy does not just disappear. Exclude it. Repress it? Send it back to where it came from? If that worked why would we need to do it over every year. Now Inclusion is something different. It is through inclusion that the real alchemical process of transforming the energy takes place.
